PERSONALITY:
To understand Kaz Brekker, you must first understand Ketterdam.

Ketterdam is a merchant city - the capital of Kurtch and for all intents and purposes, the center of the black heart that is the Kurtch way. It is a city built off trade, merchandising, and the backs of those too poor and downtrodden to know any better. It is an unforgiving place, where districts are as different as the people who live within them and the criminal underbelly is just as strong and prevalent as the tidy, wealthy families of the upper side. A port city, people come and go as often as the tides, most barely making a name for themselves and even fewer a life.

Kat Brekker did not come to this city as Kaz Brekker, but over the course of his life - because he does have a life. He has fought tooth and nail for it, but he does have one - Ketterdam has shaped him into exactly what he is. A boy from the barrel, chewed up and spit out in a way that very few would be able to recognize. That no one is able to recognize. And that is exactly the way he wants it to be. Because if no one knows anything for certain about you, then they have no power over you, and that is the rule that Kaz Brekker carries down to his very soul.

Information is power. Whoever holds that information holds the power. And if there was one thing for certain, it was that Kaz Brekker would have power, just as he would have revenge.

Most know Kaz as the ruthless, unforgiving, wretched second in command of the Dregs. He’s also known as Dirty Hands, for the gloves he never takes off, and for all the blood he’s caked them with. And if he’s being honest, those descriptions may be the only truthful thing about him. Add in scheming, cunning, and ambitious and he might even agree. He does not care for others (so they say) and will always be about ten steps ahead (true) and, for enough money, would betray even his mother (might, honestly, if he had one).

But underneath the well-fitting clothes and leather gloves, underneath the piercing eyes and raspy voice, is still a boy. A boy who was hurt, a boy who is still traumatized, and a boy who will do whatever it takes to survive. He is quick to start a fight for the feeling it gives him of being alive, and he is no stranger to violence, all aspects of this perfectly crafted mask that he has built around himself for protection more than anything else. But as it is the way with most masks, he soon lost sight of the boy he'd been protecting, unsure of where the line of the mask truly began. A good part of him wonders if that is a problem, if there's really anything lost in the boy who arrived to Ketterdam, with his brother, and a dream.

CANON POWERS: none. He's incredibly intelligent and crafty and is an unnecessarily skilled thief, but no 'powers'.

MAGIC ABILITY: Attainable Secrets: Once a day, if Kaz touches a person (skin on skin) he can attain one (1) secret per 24 hours. This secret can vary from either a fact, a feeling, an emotion, something the person knows or something they've been denying, etc. This first attempt will not need any effort on Kaz's part other than touching the other person. However, it is possible for him to do it more than once. The only consequence is that Kaz, himself, will give up a secret in return. This can be done as many times as Kaz has secrets to trade.
ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?: He will be bringing with him his cane, with a crow's head handle, perfectly weighted.
